Accessibility Information
The Packet Boat welcomes guests of all ages and abilities whenever we can safely accommodate them. Because our boat and the Wellfleet Town Pier have physical limitations, we encourage anyone with mobility concerns to review the information below before booking.
Boarding
Boarding takes place from the Wellfleet Town Pier directly onto the boat.
The entrance through all gates of the boat is approximately 22 inches (56 cm) wide. Boarding requires stepping from the dock onto the boat and passing through this opening.
Because of the width of the entrance and the layout of the boat, standard wheelchairs cannot be brought aboard.
Mobility
Guests should be able to:
Step from the dock onto the boat.
Pass through the 22-inch-wide boarding gate.
Walk a short distance to their seat with or without assistance from a companion.
Our captain is happy to provide reasonable assistance with boarding when it can be done safely. For everyone's safety, the captain cannot lift passengers onto or off the boat.
Walkers, canes, and other small mobility aids may be accommodated if they can be safely stowed during the trip. Please contact us before booking so we can discuss your needs.
Questions Before You Book?
If you have questions about whether one of our trips is a good fit for your mobility needs, please contact us before making a reservation. We'll gladly explain the boarding process, describe the boat, and answer any questions so you can make an informed decision.
